Queen Rania runs for peace In a symbolic gesture in support of the Middle East peace process, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah participated in a “Charity Run” on Friday. Queen Rania participated in the “Run” sporting a “Peace” t-shirt, reflecting her dedication and commitment to world peace. The 32 year old Queen has become a leading voice for peace, understanding and cross-cultural dialogue especially among youth. This comes five days before the Palestinian-Israel summit, expected to take place in Aqaba on Wednesday, and three weeks prior to the World Economic Forum Extraordinary meeting at the Dead Sea. The meeting will bring together over 2000 international political and business leaders to discuss current challenges facing the Middle East after the war on Iraq. The 10 km Charity Run started from the eighth circle at 7am and ended at the Greater Amman Municipality headquarters in Ras Al-Ain. The race is a fund-raiser for the Society for Care of Neurological Patients, which provides financial assistance for patients with neurological problems. Over 200 individual participated in the run. Queen Rania, who came in third among the female runners, presented winners with trophies.
